Kate Jackson aka Sabrina Duncan

The Smart Angel

Kate Jackson as Sabrina Duncan with a nice turtle neck

Sabrina Duncan was the smart Angel and the unofficial leader of the Angels. Sabrina was outspoken, brave, humorous and undoubtedly clever. She didn't have the glamorous style that the rest of the Angels had, but she had absolutely her charm.

Why appeared Sabrina never in a bikini? Perhaps because Kate aka Sabrina was too thin. I don't mind, she had wonderful hairstyle and eyes! And I liked her turtle necks much!

In the show Sabrina was divorced however from Dr. Bill Duncan. Bill Duncan was a cop with the LAPD.

Kate Jackson was the first Angel to be cast and part of the show idea belongs to her.

When the show was conceived she was supposed to play the character of Kelly Garrett but she later changed her mind and stuck with the role of  Sabrina. When she left the series in 1979, she was replaced by beautiful model Shelley Hack but Charlie's Angels weren't the same again.

Kate Jackson Biography

Kate Jackson was born on 29 October 1948 in Birmingham (Alabama, USA) as Catherine Elise Jackson to Hogan and Ruth Jackson. After high school she studied drama at the University of Mississippi and at Birmingham Southern University, after which she did summer stock at the Stowe Playhouse in Vermont.

Following that she studied at New York's Academy of Dramatic Arts while she earned a living selling skis, modeling, (she claims modeling is "the hardest work in the world"), and working as a tour guide at NBC.

So she headed west to Hollywood. There she landed the part of Nurse Jill Danko on "The Rookies" (by prolific producer Aaron Spelling).

Later Mr. Spelling handpicked Kate to star in "Charlie's Angels" (Kate's run was from 1976-1979).

Some feature films followed, most notably, "Making Love". Kate went on to star in two other series; "Scarecrow and Mrs. King" (1983-1987) and "Baby Boom" (1988).

Kate married actor Andrew Stevens on 23 August 1978 and divorced on 4 January 1980. She met and married in 1982 David Greenwald, who incidentally ran her Production Company, but they divorced in 1984. Kate married her last husband Tom Hart in 1991, but divorced as well in 1993.

Has survived two battles with breast cancer. Once in 1987, and again in 1989. After a partial mastectomy and radiation, she won her fight and shared her experience to highlight the importance of mammograms. Also open heart surgery (she had a congenital hole in heart).

Kate Jackson is not only in films and television. She  is also the spokesperson  for  "Lincoln Mercury Cars" (including numerous TV commercials), "Just 5 Hair Color", "Reading is Fundamental", "Nu Hair" and makes various conferences speaking about health problems, breast cancer and early detection.

Trivia about Kate Jackson

Initially, Kate Jackson was intended to play Kelly Garrett in "Charlie's Angels", but at the last minute she decided to switch to the (to her) more challenging role of Sabrina Duncan as outlined in the pilot script by legendary Hollywood screenwriters Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts.

She gained the reputation of being one of the more difficult actresses in Hollywood. After a while rumors began circulating, rumors that continued throughout her years on Scarecrow and Mrs. King, that Kate Jackson's severe mood swings were caused by cocaine. "Do they think I am on cocaine because I am thin?" Jackson asked. "I am impossible, but I am impossible naturally. I do not need cocaine to make me that way. I do not take cocaine. I did not take it last year, or the year before, or the year before that. But I have been called difficult time and time again".
